You know its time for a new pc when opening Photoshop CS3 takes 5 minutes. Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit but I need to convince myself to shell out the clams for a new "work"station. With my new push towards Web 2.0 ( no really i'm not just throwing it in for google hits ) my current computer just isn't cutting the cake anymore. A new toy has also been long overdue...
So began a quest: To catch back up with the world of technology and upgrade.
When I upgrade I don't mean jump in my car and head to Best Buy, I mean scour the internet for the latest, greatest, and unfortunately expensive new junk to pack into a electric bill raising aluminum box. So began project Dark Knight... I told you I named it right? God, I am such a geek. After much thought and internal debate (not really that much...they were shiny) I chose the following parts.
- Processer - Intel Q6600 g0
- Motherboard - MSI P7N Diamond (780i)
- RAM - (2x) Crucial Ballistix 1GB DDR2 1066mhz
- Power Supply - Corsair HX620 Modular
- Video Card - EVGA 8800GTX 768mb
- Hard Drive - Seagate 7200rpm 500GB 32mb cache
- Case - Lian Li knockoff (whatever, its a case)
So maybe I went over the top a bit but I am happy with what I chose. It all arrived in the mail from various places the other day and After hooking everything up my motherboard was DOA. I couldn't even get my monitor to detect a signal. I tested just about all the components to make sure they were working correctly, which they were so now I am waiting for my exchange in the mail. Hopefully this week I will be back up and running.
